KC at Mile High Leaves Us Feeling A Mile LOW!!!

The 2009 Season is over and we ended up 8-8. It left just as bad a taste in my mouth as it did last year. On any given Sunday is quite the catch phrase in the NFL. All I can say is we should have beat KC, we killed them the last time we met up 44-13 in KC. Instead we got whipped 44-24 at Home. Last year it was a blow out 21-52 at San Diego and another missed playoff birth.

What was the difference this year? An offense without Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler.

Brandon Marshall

In this day and age of concussions, torn muscles, and torn ligaments; there should be no questions towards an athlete of whether he is over exaggerating an injury or not. Apparently Brandon showed up late to a scheduled trainers appointment for evaluation. Then it should be understood that he'll just be evaluated a little late. Now if he refused, then one could speculate. If it surprised Brandon that he was benched, then so be it. If a player wants to miss practice to heal up, it should be allowed. But for a coach to say a player is faking an injury in this day and age is absurd.

Tony Scheffler

The word is that Scheffler said he was 'out of here' after the Broncos lost to the Eagles. A player or staffer wanting to score some brown nose points with McDaniels pretty much ratted him out. It is quite common and normal for competitive players to react in such a way after a tough loss. Especially one with play off implications.
Not only is it a game of inches, but also a game of intense emotions. Give that player a day or two to cool off and then he will be fine. He will show up to practice and perform and be ready to go out and play on game day. He is a paid professional that gets paid to play the game he loves. Unless there is a serious grudge that developed between player and coach, I can't see a professional paid athlete deliberately trying to cause strife during a game. I thought it was a bad move on McDaniels behalf to bench Tony over mere words of frustration.

Although Josh has played high school football and has been coaching ever since, although Josh has coached the likes of Tom Brady and Matt Cassel; he needs to develop a sense of how to handle other players that are not 'yes' men. Not every player is a 'yes' man, some have their ideas of how to play the game. And maybe sometimes they are right, and sometimes they are wrong. But if those are the only type of players that Josh can coach, then maybe we'll see some more new faces at wide out and tight end.

Ending the season 8-8 is very much the same as last year. No improvements made for our record, but the team showed flashes of brilliance. I felt last year's team showed flashes of brilliance too. But I think Josh will make the necessary changes he feels the Broncos need right now. I do hope to see Kyle Orton back, that's for sure.
